I purchased my Nerve off of eBay about three months ago. It came with a freak barrel, Bob Long torpedo reg and a team board already in the gun.
When I took the gun out of the box the first thing I noticed was how light it was. I am used to a heavier gun, my 03 Autococker, and the Nerve was very light. It did not come with a manual but was very easy to adjust the settings, firing modes, ROF etc. When I first tested it I turned the reg all the way off and gassed it up. I slowly increased the output pressure on the reg until it got to about 250 psi.
This thing shot like a dream. It was very consistent even out to about 60 yards. I was very impressed with it my first time using it. I only shot a hopper through it when I ran out of air and had to put it away till my first time at the field. When I got home I experimented with taking out the bolt and seeing how everything worked. The bolt comes out with a simple half turn of a knob on the back of the marker and slides right back in. When I took it out to the field the following Sunday I gassed it up and heard a loud POP come from the gun. I looked at the gauge and it read well over 400psi. I immediately degassed the marker to locate the problem. It turned out that I had the output pressure on the reg all the way up instead of off when I gassed it up. This did not blow the solenoid but did blow my gauge. The gauge was stuck at 400psi and would not go back down to zero even when there was no air in the marker. After I turned the reg off I gassed it up again and began to slowly increase the pressure until the marker would cycle. It seemed very quiet, which I thought was just because I had a barrel condom on and didn’t think anything of it.
I went to the chronograph range and fired a few shots. The first shot went about 10 feet and hit the ground. I then fired 20 more shots all doing the exact same thing. I tried turning up the pressure on my reg but this did nothing. The ref that was there told me to increase me dwell on the marker. I did this and returned to the chronograph range. I started shooting and the exact same thing happened again. I took off my hopper and fired a few times and noticed that the bolt was only going forward about a quarter of an inch. I took my marker to the field owner and he looked at it for a few seconds while I told him what happened and about the bolt only going forward a little. He simply turned the knob on the back of the gun to the right and handed it back to me. It turned out that the bolt was not engaged to the hammer and therefore would not fire the gun. I went back to the chronograph range somewhat embarrassed. After this my Nerve worked fine. I chronoed at 280 fps. Over the chronograph for my first 5 shots I had: 276,274,276,275,277. I was very happy with this.
The whole day I played I did not have a single problem with this gun. It made it very easy for me to snap shoot because of its light weight and small size. I only broke one ball during the whole day and when I looked down the barrel the ball broke about 3 inches down the barrel so it was not a chop in the gun. I would recommend this marker to anyone with a lower level mechanical or electro looking to step up their game. It is a fairly simple marker that would be good for any mid level player.
Good gun, go buy one now!
