Ego 7

Ego 7

The Ego 7 was released not too long ago. To most it was a jaw-opener. The looks of the gun impressed me like the previous Egos. The gun only weighs 2.07 lbs, giving the Ego 7 a dominant position as one of the lightest paintball guns ever made. Planet Eclipse claims that the new Ego 7 focussed on improving user maintenance and increasing its reliability. The circuit board proves it will be more user-friendly. But only time will tell whether its reliability is in-check with Planet Eclipse’s statements.

+’s

The Ego 7’s new circuit board actually comes standard with the option of playing with both optical-switch OR micro-switch. It’s usually a 50/50 preference between the two, so Planet Eclipse integrated both into the Ego 7… the first of its kind.

-‘s

Well, the gun checks out after my review. Its reliability is yet to be tested over time. Obviously this gun is not built to be run over with a semi-truck (although that gives me an idea). But if the new Ego 7’s reliability increased even a bit from the 05 and 06 Ego, rest assure and be confident that this gun will do fine on the field and not break down every other day.

The new Tippmann X7, although, has already had high acclaims for its versatility. In other words, it’s very likely that the X7 will be the new 98 custom – as far as upgrades goes. Tippmann quotes that there are “1000 different looks”.

Gun Problems? Need Advice? – Ask Kyle

Swearing

Over the last 6 years of my life, I’ve thought about paintball almost every day in some way, shape or form. Because of this, I’ve had the lovely experience of “trial and error” when it came to gun repair and maintenance. My very first Tippmann 98 custom had the most problems, of course. One night, I was so, uh, “frustrated” with my marker I decided to take a sand belt to it. Lo and behold, it did not fix the problem. I did, eventually, learn how to manage my gun leaks, jams, and electronic malfunctions more patiently. So, instead of hating the manufacturers for releasing such pieces of garbage, I’m opening up a personal ‘Ask Kyle’ sort of deal in our paintball forum. Sort of like a Q&A for paintball.

Feel free to post in the appropriate forum category your current marker, hopper, or equipment problems. Also, if you need some suggestions or advice on what equipment to pick now or in the future, I’d be more than happy to help out! I’ll try to get back to all questions within a reasonable amount of time.

Cheers to everyone!

PM7 Released – What Now, PM6?

Pm6

As many of you probably know, the new Proto Matrix 2007, or PM7, has been released. Yes of course it’s going to look slimmer and more l33t; but what about the PM6? There have been only minor internal adjustments to Proto’s new release. Proto, as well as every other paintball marker manufacturer, focuses more on the physical looks of the gun, so it seems as if there bigger changes to the newer model than you think. Oh, and they jack the price up $400 more just for kicks. My theory involves the idea that there really isn’t much to the PM7 other than the looks, so why not go with the PM6? Now, I’m not saying that the PM7 isn’t a great gun… It sure is. Quite honestly it does look very attractive – but is it worth the money? That’s for you to decide.

In the mean time, read up on the 2006 Proto Matrix, and see if that won’t quench your urge.

Dye Invision I3 – The Fog Redemption

Dye_invisioni3

Did your mask finally crap out on you?  Too many times I’ve had to chuck mine into the Christmas fire due to it either fogging up or the padding gets torn or I just don’t like the fit anymore.  Dye’s new Invsion I3 has made their mark (again) by offering their fancy “Tri-Mold Soft Flex Technology”.  While I have no idea what this means, it sounds cool.  And that’s enough.  Actually what it does is literally molds right to your face’s bone structure.  The foam is soft and comfortable, so no worries there.

Kingman Spyder Gun Trigger Mods

Spyder_imagine

The Kingman Spyder is the most popular paintball gun on the market.  It has been for the last decade.  Why is this?  It’s not because it has the fastest ROF (rate of fire) record, or the best beam-breaking eyes… It’s because of its upgrade availability.  Kingman Spyders have that unique capability to have the crap kicked out of it and still shoot fine the next day.  Because of this, creative paintballers have gone to work, trying to find some way to get tweak or mod the gun to get the best bang for their buck.  We’ve published a trigger mod mod for the Kingman Spyder.  The mod is applicable to most of the Spyders available on the market right now.  It’s fairly simple, and its effects are tremendous.  It’ll increase your rate of fire up to twice as fast.

What Are You Asking Santa For Christmas?

Santa

For those following their calendars, you know that Christmas is right around the corner.  27 days, 13 hours, and 11 minutes as of this post to be more precise.  When America is spending billions of dollars every year in online shopping alone, I can’t help but wonder what kinds of things people are asking for this year.  I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that many will be asking for a pre order for the new Dye DM7 – or maybe even Smart Parts’ new Epiphany?   No matter what you’re asking for, don’t be fooled by the cheap Christmas gimmicks many online stores are promoting.  I will be doing my best to seek out the best Christmas deals this season to get you the cheapest prices

I’d like to hear what you’d like for Christmas in the forums.
