We’re Here!

PSP River City Open Paintball

We just got into Omaha, Nebraska a few hours ago for the River City PSP. We stopped by the tournament to pick up our media passes and it looks like this will be a pretty fun tournament. There aren’t as many people at this event compared to the others, but enough to get some nice games going.

We’ll be updating the site with fresh paintball photos throughout the next few days.

Concerning Downtime

Sorry for the major downtime today. Looks like PaintballGuns.net had a friendly visit by a malicious script that brought down the site for a while. Should be taken care of now. Any questions, concerns or comments can be asked on the forum.
Enough of that technical garbage that no one understands, back to paintball 8-).

PbNation Did It Again

Pissed me off, that is.

The story is short and simple, which makes it even more silly. As you may already know, PaintballGuns.net will be attending the PSP’s upcoming River City Open event to photograph inside the nets. My partner Chris and I will be the ones actually photographing the event, so we thought we should find some teams that actually want their pictures taken. We started a thread in the River City Open PSP section simply saying that PaintballGuns.net will be attending the event, and that we have a pretty open schedule; so we asked for teams that will be playing the event to PM me if they’d like to be photographed for FREE (the keyword here is free).

Getting Your Paintball Tank Hydro Tested

I bet half of you forgot that co2 or HPA tanks even had an expiration date. Well, let’s get educated. Also, this is for those who aren’t sure how to find your paintball tank’s expiration date and if expired, how to get it hydro tested.

Most fiber wrap tanks (N2, nitrogen, HPA, compressed air) have a valid lifespan of about 3-5 years. Steel or aluminum tanks are usually 5 years. What I mean by this is that every paintball tank that holds a gas at high pressure (all of them do) need to be tested for safety purposes every x amount of years. If you’re caught at the field with a paintball tank passed its expiration, you’ll be asked to use a different tank or to not play at all. It’s a safety issue. Tanks need to be tested for durability after holding so much pressure over time. Tanks have been known to explode.

To fine the expiration date of your CO2 tank, look at the engraved digits near the top of the tank. For fiber wrapped tanks, locate the sticker wrapped around the tank that has its information on it. Find the digits that match up in the MM / YY format (MM=month, YY=year). For example: 03 / 03. That would mean that the tank needs hydro testing in March of 2008. Usually there’s a triangle symbol that separates the month from the year. See picture below.

Tank

Once you find the date, it’s a matter of going to your own personal calendar to see what day it is. Determine whether or not the date on your tank is passed the current day or not. If it is, it’s time to get hydro tested! You can usually get this done at local CO2 providers, fire department stations, or you can send it somewhere that services paintball tanks. One provider for this is Hydrotester.com.

Yea it’s just another chore to remember to do; but it’s necessary to keep your equipment all safe and… working.

PbNation.com Bans NPPL – Who Should Be Crying?

Sometimes you just have to take stand. This is one of those times. – Ed President of PbN

It looks like the NPPL stood up before you, Ed.

PbNation.com is the largest paintball forum in the world. The NPPL (National Professional Paintball League) is a paintball tournament venue. They host paintball tournament events throughout the year with teams all sizes and experiences.

Now that we’re all on the same page, it’s my sad duty to report that PbNation.com has cut off all support to the NPPL for apparently signing a contract with the Fox television network that restricts video taping of other small paintball DVD companies like DerDer, Traumahead, and Monkey With a Gun. Monkey With a Gun brought PbNation’s owner, Ed, a good amount of money through an affiliation with the DVD company. Ed (and PbN staff) were apparently outraged that NPPL would do such a thing. This obviously means less money for Ed and his site.

Where’s Paintball Going?

Paintball exploded in popularity from the nineties up until about 2004. Since then it has stabilized at about 10 million players in the United States. Why did paintball stop growing? Did paintball reach its popularity for this generation – or is there more for it to offer?

So, this post ends with a thought only – what’s paintball’s next step? It’s a general question that even I can’t answer.

Eerie, isn’t it.

PSP River City Open – Who’s Going?

PSP River City

Since PaintballGuns.net wasn’t able to make it to this year’s Chicago PSP event due to unpredicted circumstances (laziness), we’ve decided to take a road trip to Omaha, Nebraska – home of the next PSP event.

Like always, we will be taking pictures inside the netting at the event. If you have a team that will be playing in Omaha and would like to request your team to be photographed, please post in this forum thread.

PaintballGuns.net Acquires Pb-Addict.com

Pb-Addict Merge

I am very excited to announce that PaintballGuns.net has recently acquired Pb-Addict.com, a great paintball forum and information source since 2004. Pb-Addict’s former owner, Jordan (or Killa), has let the site go for the benefit of its growth – since he has backed away from playing the sport of paintball for the time being.

Everyone at PaintballGuns.net welcomes Pb-Addict.com’s forum members – as we will be merging the two forums very soon. I hope members from both sites are now excited for future forum and over website advancements in the near future.
