Kingman Offers Universal Mail-in Rebates $10-$20 Off

Are you planning on purchasing a Kingman Spyder anytime soon? You’re in luck if you are. Kingman Spyder has just opened up a universal Mail-in Rebate program which allows its customers from any dealer (i.e. Xtremez, ActionVillage, or even local stores) to mail in their receipt, UPC code, and coupon form and receive a rebate between $10 to $20.

Of course, there are restrictions. The rebate only applies to the following Kingman Spyder paintball guns:

$10 Rebate

  • Spyder VS2
  • Spyder MR2
  • Spyder Xtra Super Kit
  • Spyder Tactical Sniper Kit
  • Spyder MR1 Kit

$20 Rebate

  • Spyder VS3
  • Spyder MR3

The mail-in rebate program is only effective from October 1st, 2007 to January 15th, 2008 (just through Christmas).

This rebate program is a marketing attempt to sway customers like yourself to choose Kingman Spyder over their competitors (cough, Tippmann) just before Christmas (the business shopping season). Nice move Spyder – you smart. But hey, I’ll take a $10 or $20 rebate if it’s as easy as that.

You can read Spyder’s official instructions on how to claim your rebate here.

Ballers – Is Paintball a Sport? (video documentary)

Spite Digital Productions

Spite Digital Productions
released a very well-done paintball documentary titled ‘Ballers’. The short, 10 minute video has interviews of regular folks answering questions regarding the “sport”. The ultimate question this video documentary addresses is: “Is paintball considered a sport or a mere hobby?”

I believe the argument can go both ways, honestly. It’s an interesting question to address, regardless of it’s stagnation. Watch the video below and then voice your opinion in the poll below that. Enjoy.

Paintball – Some Random Facts

I’m the kind of guy who loves a good statistic, don’t you? Here’s a list of random facts and statistics relating to paintball in some way:

  • Searching for ‘paintball‘ on Google, there are 22.5 Million returned results. PaintballGuns.net is ranked 10th (bottom of first page).
  • Our paintball game has recently reached the 1 MILLIONTH game play.
  • Paintball has actually declined in popularity these last few years according to Google.
  • Ever wondered about the patents you see branded on every single piece of paintball equipment you have? You can read and view designs of every single patent related to paintball here.
  • Paintball was once illegal in New Jersey.
  • The possession of any kind of paintball marker/gun is currently illegal in many countries (Australia, Trinidad, Tobago, etc).

These are just a few of many interesting statistics regarding the paintball industry. Google is obviously a huge tool that helps spread the popularity and information on paintball. So, thanks Goog. Also, thanks to PB2X magazine for the idea of sharing such statistics on the sport.

PbNation Did It Again

Pissed me off, that is.

The story is short and simple, which makes it even more silly. As you may already know, PaintballGuns.net will be attending the PSP’s upcoming River City Open event to photograph inside the nets. My partner Chris and I will be the ones actually photographing the event, so we thought we should find some teams that actually want their pictures taken. We started a thread in the River City Open PSP section simply saying that PaintballGuns.net will be attending the event, and that we have a pretty open schedule; so we asked for teams that will be playing the event to PM me if they’d like to be photographed for FREE (the keyword here is free).

Where’s Paintball Going?

Paintball exploded in popularity from the nineties up until about 2004. Since then it has stabilized at about 10 million players in the United States. Why did paintball stop growing? Did paintball reach its popularity for this generation – or is there more for it to offer?

So, this post ends with a thought only – what’s paintball’s next step? It’s a general question that even I can’t answer.

Eerie, isn’t it.

PaintballGuns.net Acquires Pb-Addict.com

Pb-Addict Merge

I am very excited to announce that PaintballGuns.net has recently acquired Pb-Addict.com, a great paintball forum and information source since 2004. Pb-Addict’s former owner, Jordan (or Killa), has let the site go for the benefit of its growth – since he has backed away from playing the sport of paintball for the time being.

Everyone at PaintballGuns.net welcomes Pb-Addict.com’s forum members – as we will be merging the two forums very soon. I hope members from both sites are now excited for future forum and over website advancements in the near future.

If you haven’t joined our forums yet, you can register here.

Paintball Cruise?

Paintball Cruise

So I was thumbing through PB2X magazine and saw that there’s a “Paintball Cruise” provided by Carnival and sponsored by Kingman, Virtue, and Xhaled. The deadline was June 1st, so you missed your chance. But Ollie Lang, Matty Marshall, Nicky Cuba, Bea Youngs, and Lisa Harvey are all planning to be there. Don’t get me wrong, a cruise sounds great – But I think it will flop. I just find it hard to see how out of all things, a cruise is chosen for a paintballers vacation. Paintballers are one of the poorest athletes out there, and they’re asking for each person to cough up $500 a ticket. So I’m not too sure what the point of having a “paintball cruise” is, but whatever floats your boat. Check out PaintballCruise.com if you’d like to read more about it.

STAKO Bottles Banned From Millennium Series

Stako

This past weekend, a Millenium Series staff member found multiple STAKO nitrogen tanks “leaking out of the body (NOT the regulator) and producing ‘bubbles’ under the surface of the bottle body” (68Caliber.com). All STAKO air tanks are now banned from all Millennium Series events. I guess most paintballers prefer that their tanks not blow bubbles… but hey.

What are STAKO bottles you might ask? STAKO bottles are nitrogen air tanks that are super light compared to others. STAKO uses carbon fiber to wrap the tank instead of aluminum, which is what determines most of the tank’s weight.

What’s STAKO have to say?
STAKO briefly responds to the situation here.

What’s Keeping Paintball from Growing?

Yes, we’ve all heard that paintball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and Canada; but did you know that statistics are showing the sport’s growth rate has actually declined these last few years? Not by much of course, nothing to really notice, but it certainly isn’t growing as much as it was a few years ago. Why is this?

Peter Irizarry, owner of Reball, testifies to the sport’s current standing in America by saying,

Paintball doesn’t have a focal point. There isn’t one thing to look at like most other sports have.
