Small, light, and quick: Nowadays these qualities are shared by most high end markers in the paintball world. However, certain features can set apart one paintball gun/marker from another; milling for example. The milling of the 06 Dynasty Shocker by Smart Parts is a work of art. It’s simple, but a thing of beauty as well. All of it seems to flow well and you never quite get tired of it. On the other hand, due to the folks in quality control at Smart Parts, it’s not perfect. Two of the four total 06 Dynasty Shockers which I have owned in the last 6 months have had milling flaws on the back of the body. Noticeable to the amateur eye… probably not. Nevertheless, it is there and was not caused by user error. That’s not the only flaw of the 06 Dynasty, but it is the seldom mentioned one. Of course there is also the quick fading anno which Smart Parts is notorious for. Some may be turned off by it so to speak, but to some it is taken as a good thing, as it truly brings out the complex edges in the milling of this particular marker. Enough about the outside, let’s get down to performance and what really matters to the experiences paintball player.
The 06 Dynasty Shocker isn’t very different from its stock body counter-part, but there are some noticeable differences off the bat. First of all, Smart Parts finally realized that their customers want a high efficiency bolt kit stock in their markers. Needing to buy a ninety-five dollar upgrade so that you can get somewhat decent efficiency compared to markers of competitors right off the bat after spending several hundreds of dollars on the gun itself isn’t exactly a favorable thing. Well that’s not a problem for the Dynasty, for this model came stock with Smart Parts’ Turbocharger high efficiency bolt kit. Next, there’s the new and improved Dynasty frame. It gives you that extra wiggle room for your fingers while you have more important things to worry about, like shooting the guy on the other side of the field. Also, it comes with a built-in snatch grip which some users end up buying on the stock body model, but of course that’s just preference. In addition, Smart Parts found a very nifty way of milling Dynasty into the back of said frame which gives it that final touch. Last but not least is the trigger which is included stock in the frame. It’s an improvement, but not really all that it can be.
Overall Smart Parts did make several key improvements with the 06 Dynasty Shocker, even if there could have been more done as far as improvements. There’s still that pesky Nerve board and that reflective eye that always seems to go down when you need it most. Quality control has always been something Smart Parts has needed to work on, regrettably, so that’s nothing to be surprised about. Nonetheless, this marker is a light, quick little guy who has little to no kick and is very easy to maintain for most. It can take a beating from weekly use and keep shooting people at your command on the field without problems… well, most of the time. I guess if I had to sum up this marker with one quote O would definitely pick this one… “Take care of it and it will take care of you.â€
